One of the most overlooked aspects of an international hunt is how to get your trophies home. More importantly how to get them cleared through the government agencies that are involved. Coppersmith has been successfully clearing hunting trophies for their hunters for more than three decades.
Since opening our doors more than 70 years ago we’ve been customs brokers. That means we are not only knowledgeable but more importantly licensed to represent people and businesses when they have merchandise shipped to the U.S. We know the regulations and we know the agencies.
For trophies like yours, the three agencies we deal with regularly are US Customs, USDA and US Fish & Wildlife Service. These agencies want to know several things:
Coppersmith has nine office locations around the country at almost all of the major ports of entry. This allows us to clear your shipment just about anywhere in the country. Most of our offices have their own warehouses where your trophies will go through the clearance process. Our Dallas and Chicago offices are USDA Approved Warehouses. This means if someone from one of those agencies wants to have a look, we’ll be there with them. Once your shipment has cleared we can deliver them to your taxidermist for finishing or to your home or office to proudly display.
Coppersmith’s service fees are standard to all of our locations nationwide and cover most charges involved in a clearance. Our standard rate for a trophy clearance is $475. Please check our rate sheets for a full description of our fees. Not covered in our rates are any additional airline charges including terminal handling and airline storage charges which we will pay on your behalf.
Coppersmith can also arrange the delivery to the location of your choice. Please contact us for an estimated quote.
Should you have any questions at all regarding shipping, clearance processes or Coppersmith’s service fees, please feel free to call any of our offices nationwide. One of our Trophy Specialists will be more than happy to assist in any way possible.
It is important to note that although we like to be involved in the planning of your trophy shipment as early as possible after your hunt has ended, we do not participate in the packing of the shipment, choice of foreign taxidermist or shipping agent. We can not verify contents of shipments. We are not authorized to open packing crates, therefore, should there be any missing items, we will assist communicating with the overseas entities involved in packing and shipping, however, we do not assume any liability.
If this is your first time returning a trophy from an overseas hunt, congratulations - you're in the right place.
If you've used our service in the past, welcome back! It's great to see you again and we're honored we can be of assistance.
